| Born on September 24th, 1977, Shannon is the youngest member of the band. His musical journey began in the 8th grade when he took up the guitar as a hobby with a group of his friends. After a year of playing merely as a "hobby", he decided it was time to get serious. Shannon started taking lessons from local musician Harry Robbins, and quicky scored a job with the Bluegrass/Folk band, "The Unexpected". He held down the rhythm on the bass guitar for almost a year and a half, then he switched up to the "flat-top" acoustic for another six months, all the while becoming more familiar with the sound that the mountains call their own. Once in high school he wanted to grow his musical tastes even more, and put together another band with several of his friends, including Stone Black drummer Robby Moore. The group covered all the top 40 country of the mid 90's, as well as all the southern and classic rock. After almost a year and a half the group disbanded, and with the extra free time Shannon kept feeding his musical hunger. Working on different projects, it gave him even more musical influences to draw from. However, he still wanted a place to showcase his creative side, and that is what he has found with Stone Black. It takes a unique talent to be able to handle both rhythm and lead responsibilites with a single instrument, and that is something that Shannon handles almost effortlessly. Knowing when to play and when not to "over-do it", Shannon's style of playing lays the ground work, and has become the cornerstone for the Stone Black sound. With influences constantly changing, Shannon conrinues to evolve musically. He is happily married, and spends his off stage time with his beautiful wife Prissy, and two yellow labs Presley and Sebastion. |
